The rooms were neat, but they still need maintenance. The place is old, and its position right beside the main road made it noisy and didn’t feel safe. There were no duvets on the beds, and the blankets were dirty and torn.

On arrival in the evening, we found we’d been moved without our knowledge or agreement into a completely different, cheaper accommodation with a lower star rating. When we challenged the host, who was the property administrator or receptionist, we were offered a bribe and then threatened and indirectly intimidated. The host was arrogant, dishonest, and unethical. During our week in Bergville and since then, the property has made no effort to explain what happened, resolve the dispute, or formally apologise for the unfair and unethical way our “stay” was handled.

The garden was the standout for me, and the rooms were comfortable. The staff were lovely, too. There’s a great location with lots to do nearby.
