Ay Jay's Guesthouse

This place used to be a respectable business, and it's a shame what it has become for the whole neighborhood. These days it looks more like a tavern. If the owners know about it, they should be ashamed.

We stayed on Wednesday, 23rd July, and the blankets were in such bad shape that I can hardly describe them. Luckily I always bring my own. The bathroom was a mess, the whole property was extremely dirty, and all the doors in our rooms were broken. It clearly hadn't been cleaned, though at the very least it should have been. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Bookings.com must remove it from the list.

The owner, Julius, was rude and disrespectful. He took our speaker and wanted us to pay more than we owed. AJ Jay's guesthouse is really bad. I wouldn't recommend it at all.

We left after our afternoon nap and gave up the night we'd paid for because my partner was sure his back couldn't handle another night on that mattress. The double mattress was so worn that an hour's nap left us more tired, and the single bed was completely decrepit. To get through the bathroom door, we had to push the double bed against the single, leaving no room to move between them. The family room's pool door wouldn't lock. Everything looked old, worn, dirty, and run down. The photos don't look anything like the real place, even though it's dirt cheap, as they say, you get what you pay for. Of the five staff we met, one didn't speak at all, another spoke very little English and struggled to understand us, and one stayed on the couch looking at his phone while talking to us. Another handled guests in his underwear, or maybe swimming trunks, we're not sure, and yelled at other staff in front of us. Only the last person we met should be dealing with guests, but by then the first impressions had already done their damage.
