Kings Halt

Really disappointed by the service. We were regular guests when travelling between jhb and cpt, but were told they couldn’t accommodate a late check in. At 10pm, we had to find somewhere else to stay. We won’t be coming back.

The aircon made a big difference on such a hot day, and the room stayed cool. It was small but had everything we needed. My friend was staying there, so I picked her up and we went out before coming back to the room. There’s a table and two chairs outside, but it was too hot to sit there. I’d definitely tell anyone looking for an overnight place about it.

The room was lovely, but a few things bothered us. There was no milk, and the tea and coffee supply was limited to two tea bags, three coffees and two creamers. The ensuite is open plan, and we’d rather have a door to keep smells and awkward bathroom noises away from a partner in the bedroom. Also, the freestanding headboard sits about 200mm from the wall and tips against it when you lean back, so reading or sitting up in bed wasn’t possible.

If you’re nearby, give Hennie at Kingshalt Guest House a call. Hennie was a great host, the amenities were superb, and the place felt safe and secure. Breakfast was out of this world.
