It was clean, the staff were nice, and the location worked perfectly for getting to work and shopping at Prellar square. But I had a few issues in Room 13. There was no hand wash in the bathroom, only a bath soap that wasn’t nice to use on my hands. A liquid soap would have helped. There was also no towel rail, so once my towel and vaslaapie got wet, I had nowhere to hang them. The tea, coffee, and sugar were supplied only on the first day, and weren’t refilled if you used them up, so I had to go out and buy more. Breakfast didn’t feel worth the charge. The options were bacon, chips and eggs, or cereal, with nothing healthy apart from eggs. There was no fruit or non-greasy choice for people with dietary needs or diabetes, and not even green tea. I only ate there once and didn’t go back. The carpet meets the tiled area by the fridge and stove, and small nails stick up in several spots along that edge. Stepping on one without shoes was really painful.

I was impressed as soon as I came in. The place was neat and very clean, the receptionist was friendly, and breakfast was lovely. My first impression was also how safe and secure it felt. The only disappointment was that there were no mats in my room, just a towel on the bathroom floor. I’ll definitely come back.

The staff are very friendly, but the breakfast isn’t the greatest. There’s mould on the bathroom ceilings that needs urgent attention. Please sort out issues before guests arrive, and offer water in the rooms.

I’ve been choosing Lala Dene Lodge for accommodation in Bloemfontein since 2021, and the price, comfort, and service have kept me coming back. The rooms are beautiful, tidy, private, and comfortable. I also appreciate the recent security upgrades and the incredible personnel. It’s ideally placed for restaurants and the mall, and the premises itself are one for the books. I could say a lot more, but it must be quite excellent to remain my go to place all these years.

Kaka place. The food choices are limited, they don’t bring extra toilet paper or shower gel, and there are strict rules and a curfew.
