We were mainly there to rest during a 4,000 km motorcycle trip, and we left feeling relaxed and well rested. It’s a clean place, with a comfortable bed and a good shower. The Wi-Fi was a little slow, but we weren’t there to do much online business, so it didn’t bother us much.

The children had to play on the brick parking area because they weren’t allowed on any grass, even the large lawn with goal posts, despite us stating when we booked that children would be with us. During our three-night stay, there was no refill of the complimentary coffee, tea or sugar, and the water jugs in the rooms were empty with instructions to “go buy your own water.” One room’s DStv didn’t work, and the cleaning staff said they knew about the unresolved problem. We were also accused repeatedly of taking garbage bags to replace full bins, toilet paper when our bathroom rolls ran out, and rusks from the breakfast area, even though we had brought our own. The owner’s behavior overshadowed our family weekend. They sent rude messages calling us “barbarians who have probably never travelled.” We’ve visited every continent and stayed in guesthouses around the world, and have never been treated this unprofessionally. The owner also made veiled threats: “This will be taken further. Choose your words carefully. You don't know who you are dealing with.” The online photos are attractive, but the actual experience fell far short. I can’t recommend the establishment, given the poor hospitality and the owner’s hostile attitude.

On my third stay, the power was out and we hadn’t been told about it. We were told it would return in an hour and a half, so we waited in a freezing room without hot water. I called the host several times but got no answer. When I went to the main house, the man who answered said he didn’t know when the electricity would be back. He told me, “if you want to leave . I don’t care”. I asked whether I’d get a refund if I checked out right then, and he agreed and shook my hand. After I left, I sent my account details, but they called me a liar and said I should have waited five hours for the power to return. Then they blocked me on WhatsApp. Very rude and unprofessional. Guests clearly don’t matter to them, even if you’ve stayed several times. My first two visits had been fine.

The owner sorted out a small problem for me quickly during my one-night stay. The rooms look lovely, and the staff were really nice and friendly. I enjoyed being there.
