The Suburban

We were only there overnight, but had a good time as a family. The place was lovely, clean, and safe, and the owner communicated well. It was easy to find too.

The rooms were comfortable and the location was quiet. There weren’t many staff around, so it was peaceful with less noise. Preller is very convenient, just across two streets 👌🏾

The rooms are comfortable, but there are cockroaches in them. We’re staying at Suburban Guest House tonight, and I hope they can work on this.

Breakfast was excellent, starting with a really fresh fruit bowl and yoghurt, followed by a hearty, well prepared main and finishing with lovely strong brewed coffee. For an overnight stop, the price was spot-on with that meal included. Gustav, the manager, was friendly and attentive throughout. The room was compact but not too small, with good quality linen and pillows. The queen bed wasn’t perfect, though it wasn’t hollow in the middle. Sleep quality was as good as you can expect with your partner rolling around. A couple of small things: the air conditioning blows cold air straight onto the bed, and we found out the next day that it can be a recipe for a cold. A shelf or stand in the bathroom would also be useful, since the toilet lid isn’t ideal for toiletries. Otherwise, a good stay.
