The lack of even hand soap was inconvenient, and the curtains wouldn't close properly, so there wasn't much privacy. The room also felt old-fashioned and overdue for an upgrade. I left disappointed because it didn't meet my expectations, and I hope they make improvements.

The reception team are very friendly, and I loved them. My room had bugs and ants, though, and ants even covered part of my trousers despite there being no food on them. The rooms and linens need regular cleaning and maintenance. There's a notice warning guests not to drink the water, but no bottled water is provided, and there isn't any water in a jar either.

I booked ten nights but left after five days. From the start, nobody helped with my bags or showed me to the room. The mould and mildew smell hit as soon as I walked in. There was mould on the bathroom silicone, the tub was dirty, and the shower was so poor I couldn't even wash my hair. The wardrobes were stained and mouldy, so I couldn't unpack. The towels looked ancient, threadbare, and gross. Water from the fridge had spread across the floor and damaged my bags and clothes, and the fridge itself looked like it had never been cleaned. The beds were so worn that three thick mattress protectors had been put on to hide the failed springs. The service was just as bad. Nobody greeted me when I came or went, or asked how my stay was going. I felt like a staff member instead of a paying guest. When an order was delivered and I politely asked them to bring it to my room because I wasn't well, I was told, “that's not my job, come fetch it from the desk.” I took photos for this review, though I'm not surprised there's no option to add them. If you're considering this lodge, look elsewhere. There are several better places in the area.
