The service and staff's attitude were poor when we raised our concerns, and the overall stay was very disappointing for a unit that otherwise had decent facilities. We booked through AirBnB, but the place looked nothing like the photos. Most of the advertised furniture had been swapped for older pieces, and the beds didn't match either. It was listed as having two queen beds, but one room had two singles and the other a king plus a single bunk bed. There were ants in the kitchen and mold on the bathroom ceiling. At 7am, a leaf blower right outside both bedroom windows woke us up.

I was staying here to visit my elderly father at Hillcrest Private hospital. At night, while I was asleep, burglars got into my room using the front door keys and took my computer, cellphone, and suitcase. Thank God I didn't wake up, or I might not be writing this. How was security, and how was access possible at all? The owner told me his insurance wouldn't cover my losses. Bad luck if you're underinsured. I wouldn't stay there, and everyone at the hospital knows about this now.

I cancelled after the owner's disrespectful response made me lose confidence in the stay. Chillifields had been highly recommended by a new client, and the drive in was lovely, with gorgeous horses as the first thing you see. But the reception door was locked and nobody was there to greet me. About five minutes later an employee hurried down, only to realize she'd forgotten the keys, so I waited another five minutes and looked at the view. I called the owner, who made excuses about her being new and him not being there, then got indignant when I said that shouldn't involve me. She also couldn't tell me who delivered in the area, and the room fridge wasn't stocked for the continental breakfast advertised on his flyers. He rudely said the flyers were old, which shouldn't have been my problem either. I'd been ready to enjoy the quaint place until he was so rude. If you want a no-fuss stay where questions may get a sharp reply, this could be for you. Otherwise, you can cancel like I did. He'll probably yell that he'll gladly refund you, then send a condescending email afterward with an apology that hints at regret.

Really good value, with a country feel and horses grazing nearby. The rooms were nicely presented and had self-catering facilities, and breakfast, the staff, and the service were all excellent. It felt like a home away from home. Such an awesome stay.
