I was there for an event in Cape Town and got back to the apartment very late, so I went straight to bed. The next morning, I found mould spots, dead insects, and even live baby cockroaches on the pillowcases and bed linen. My colleague had booked the hotel for me for the night of 11 February 2026. I reported it to reception right away, but got only a brief apology. About 10 days after the stay, I was diagnosed with scabies and had extensive bites on my neck and arms. The doctor looked at the bedding photos we had taken in the apartment and confirmed it was likely contracted during this stay. After this experience, we can't recommend the hotel, especially with so many other accommodation options in Cape Town.
The breakfast staff at Au Bleu were a pleasure to deal with, from the waitresses and front desk team to the cooks at the egg station. Philip, the head chef, was friendly, helpful, and very accommodating. We enjoyed our stay and hope to return. We booked a two-bedroom apartment for a short trip to CT. It had an en-suite, another shower, an open-plan kitchen, lounge and dining room, plus a panoramic balcony looking over the ocean and lagoon. The rooms were roomy and faced the sea. There was even a piano and day bed, which made the place relaxing. The kitchen had everything we needed, including a washer, dryer, basic appliances, fridge, stove, coffee maker, cutlery and crockery. Parking across a few levels connected to the apartment foyer. Room service came from a shorter version of the restaurant menu, but took more than 50 minutes. Some things were out of stock and never delivered, and nobody let us know, so we ate out on the other nights. It wasn't efficient or convenient. We paid extra for the buffet breakfast at the hotel restaurant, which also serves lunch and dinner. We had a frustrating interaction with Cornelius when asking about the elevators. They weren't working when we arrived, then seemed to work the next morning. That evening, the doors didn't open when we pressed the button, so we simply asked if the elevator was working. He snapped, “press the button.” We were on holiday, but hadn't left our brains behind! The doors eventually opened. His condescending manner took us aback. He didn't smile, greet or engage with guests, so we ignored him for the rest of the stay. He came across as having an air about him, which doesn't suit these beautiful lagoon beach apartments. The hotel also has an on-site spa, tour booking desk, bikes for hire, salon, bar and restaurants.
The beds were clean and really comfortable, and everyone welcomed us warmly. I loved the view.
There was plenty of parking, and the hotel had a great sea view. Really great place.
