The owner was helpful, the rooms were great, and the price was really good. Everything was tip-top.

The owner answered questions quickly, but the property needs work. Our rooms felt damp, the windows wouldn’t shut properly, and Wi-Fi only worked in the hall, with no signal in the rooms. During load shedding there was no backup power, even for charging phones. Everywhere else we stayed in Cape Town had at least some way to charge a phone. Maybe the renovation going on at the time affected our stay, but it was still a bad experience. This isn’t a biased review, and I wouldn’t recommend the place to other travellers. The owner also didn’t seem open to honest feedback.

We were in the downstairs studio, which felt a bit dim and humid. The apartment itself is okay for two or three nights, though it isn’t especially modern. The pool was tiny and very dirty, and squeezing the car into the garage was difficult because there was so little room. The backyard stays in the shade, but it does have a nice table for eating outside. My main concern was seeing rats in the garden and by the windows in the evenings, overnight, and early in the morning. I know that can happen in a big city like Cape Town, and they didn’t get inside, but I have panic and wish we’d been told before opening the windows.

The caretaker was lovely, but the house looks like the photos were taken 15 years ago. The furniture is tired and the place needs attention. We had a child with us, so I wouldn’t recommend staying here with one.
