Almond Cottage Bed & Breakfast

Breakfast was a real treat, with lovely presentation and plenty to choose from: fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal, toast and jams, cold cuts, cheeses, and eggs made to order. The coffee and orange juice were good too. We left feeling well looked after and ready for the day. Our room, “Sage,” was beautifully decorated, with fresh flowers, and the cinnamon-flavored rusks were a welcoming touch. The B&B is cute, the host was warm, and we really enjoyed our stay. It’s also well placed for a short drive to the beach and several well-known wineries. The garden looked like an oasis, though the cool, changeable weather meant we couldn’t enjoy it. A main road runs behind it, and while nights were quiet, morning traffic could be heard through the old windows. The noise was bearable, but light sleepers may want earplugs. We had a really good time in Somerset West and would happily come back when we’re in the area.

The garden is beautiful, and the patio has relaxed seating, room for a braai and meals, plus loungers by the pool. Inside, the rooms are tastefully decorated and come with a kettle, tea and coffee, rusks, and a small fridge. Breakfast was a delicious continental spread at a beautifully set table. The care, service, and attention to detail stood out, and our host was warm, friendly, and helpful. Thanks for a memorable stay.

Emma and her mum welcomed us in January, and the whole experience from booking onward was wonderful. It felt like a peaceful home away from home. They’re both lovely, and I’ll definitely be back.

Vonita is such a caring hostess, with a wonderful eye for detail. Everything feels harmonious, from what you see and smell to what you taste and touch. The welcome, room, and breakfast all made this one of our best stays in the Western Cape. The owner really goes the extra mile, and you can feel how lovingly the place is looked after.
