I booked directly with Antrim Villa for my CEO and clearly said in my email that the room was for one person. She arrived to find a single bed pushed into a corner of a terrible room with no wardrobe. After a long discussion at reception, they moved her to a room with a double bed, which I was told costs twice as much, though staff were willing to keep the original price. That room adjoined the kitchen, so the kitchen noise and freezer opening and closing were only a few steps away. My CEO decided to leave. Then we were refused a refund under a supposed no-refund policy. It was meant to be on the invoice, but there was nothing about it on mine. I booked because the place was expensive and had been described to me as top class. Please don't rely on the photos on booking.com or the website. I've attached a photo of the room they gave my CEO.

The restaurant and breakfast were the only good parts of our stay. The room was awful and clearly neglected, even though it has plenty of potential. The photos don't show what the room is really like. I wish I'd checked these reviews instead of only looking at booking.com.

Breakfast was lovely, though it took over 20 minutes to prepare, and one day we had no time to eat. We also heard noise upstairs in the early morning, and they couldn't give us directions. But the worst part was what happened on our last day at Antrim Villa. My husband and I had stayed three nights and usually locked our bags and avoided the safe. That morning, when we went to Antrim House for breakfast, we left our bags unlocked, with money in two separate suitcases. After checking out and going to lunch, we noticed $500.00 and R500.00 were gone. We were robbed. I later read Google and TriAdvisor reviews describing several similar thefts going back more than three years, and said guests had reported them to police, who told them there had been repeated robberies at this hotel. I don't recommend staying here. The theft was devastating, and I feel that kind of behavior is a disgrace to South Africa.

The room was small and, in our case, poorly ventilated near the bottom, with mould and a strange smell. The shower didn't work properly and the water drained badly. Staff gave a lazy, uninterested impression, and breakfast, while good, was badly organized. You also have to pay for water. Staff search through bags for money. After three weeks in South Africa, this was our worst stay.

A quaint little B&B in central Seapoint, close to all the popular Cape Town attractions.
