The accommodation was clean and very affordable, with Constantiaberg Mediclinic nearby. It’s a proper self-catering unit, stocked with a stove, microwave, cutlery, pots and pans, and more. DSTV and Wi-Fi are included. The one downside is that there’s no inverter. Contact Barry directly.

We keep coming back, and plan to continue. The gardens are beautiful, and Sheila is a little gem. Barry and his team offer places ranging from studios to a full house. The southern suburbs are handy for getting to the city, the Constantia winelands and the beaches, with everything within a 20-minute drive. There are also several good restaurants and cafes within walking distance.

The place itself is really nice, but during our three-day stay from Tuesday to Friday, the house was never cleaned. They didn’t make the bed either, even while we were out during the day.

In summer it’s a lovely place, but our Ascot villa was freezing in winter, with just one heater for the whole place. The internet was very poor and the signal didn’t reach all of us. It needs another booster to strengthen the Wi-Fi, or you have to leave the villa and sit near the owner’s place to get a signal.

It’s a very quiet place, with huge self-catering rooms. There’s a library for readers, and a nice swimming pool.
