Bay View Guesthouse turned a stressful arrival into a real blessing. Johan from Bay View Guesthouse in Somerset West called within minutes of my reaching out to a woman who manages a local guesthouse group, and offered to help us for the rest of our stay. He even offered my son his own room and invited us to see the rooms first so we could be sure we’d be comfortable. We’d just had a horrible check-in at the Strand guesthouse where we were meant to stay for a week. At 16:00 our room still wasn’t ready, looked nothing like the pictures, smelled of smoke, and was very dirty. We were extremely stressed and had nowhere to go. Johan greeted us warmly and was genuinely sympathetic. The rooms at Bay View were spotless and comfortable, exactly what we needed, so we gladly accepted his offer. We had a wonderful stay. Johan regularly checked that we were comfortable and happy, and shared useful tips for our daily outings. Thank you, Johan, for the generous hospitality and such clean, welcoming accommodation. We’ll definitely be back!

Thanks, Johan, for an exceptional stay. The hosts kept in touch, everything was very clean, and there were thoughtful little treats and touches. The view was great, and the place had everything we needed.

After several decades of work travel around the world and stays in a huge variety of hotels and guest houses, I’d put Bay View among the best guest houses. The hospitality is genuinely warm and friendly, and they’ve thought of lots of little extras that similar places often skip. It’s in a great location, with a lovely room and a spectacular view. We’re going back soon and looking forward to it. Well done, Johan and your team!

I’ve stayed here for over ten years and it’s always a great experience, with no bad stays. December 2025 was awesome again. Thanks, Johan!

I spent 12 days here, and the room was just what we’d asked for. The bed was great and the view was perfect. I’ll definitely stay here every time I come to Cape Town.
