The whole stay was superb, and so was breakfast. The rooms are lovely, spacious, and maintained to a high standard. The owner is eager to make every guest happy and really goes beyond what her role requires.

Hout Bay has what you need for a great stay, and it works well as a base for visiting Cape Town and the Cape Peninsula. The guesthouse itself sits on a quiet, safe street, with lovely mountain views from all around. Guests can use the attractive living room, which doubles as the breakfast room, plus a terrace, garden, and pool. The garden-facing rooms, balcony rooms, and holiday apartment are all furnished with real taste. The owner's personal style gives the place its character. I first found Bayview Lodge by chance in 2010, when I needed three days on the Cape Peninsula after a conference in Cape Town. Hermina made a warm impression right away. I’ve stayed three more times since and have recommended the lodge several times.

The owner has put in lots of thoughtful little touches, and the service is exceptionally good.
