Blackheath Lodge

We could walk or take a quick Uber to most places, and the hotel’s location in the city worked really well. The lodge and rooms are cozy and nicely decorated. Staff were super friendly, helped us book activities and restaurants, and shared great ideas for where to go and what to do.

The hosts made us feel very welcome, and the whole stay felt personal and relaxed. Blackheath Oyster Lodge is a special place, with a fantastic view and beautiful rooms. Everything was clean and well cared for. We had a great time and would love to return.

Simon and the team were so welcoming, sharing useful local tips, including where to get a good ostrich steak, and looking after us exceptionally well. We loved the homemade cake and breakfast, and the fireplace in our room made the stay unforgettable. The lodge has a warm boutique feel, with lovely design and cozy rooms. The pool and bar are high-end too, and it’s well placed for exploring Cape Town. We can’t wait to come back.

The staff were very friendly, and when we raised problems they dealt with them quickly or apologized. Still, there were a lot of issues. On arrival we found dozens of ants in the room, and maintenance came to handle them. One day the room wasn’t serviced until we reminded them. Later, when it was cleaned, the terrace door was left open all day, even though it was at ground level and other guests could have entered. There were also unpleasant-looking stains on the bedsheet and a decorative cushion. Once, I returned without a key while my partner was inside with ours, and no one answered the door, so I was locked out. At breakfast one morning there were no pastries, and food we ordered never arrived. WiFi in the room was very weak, and noise from people outside at breakfast or by the pool carried into the room. The pool area is nice, and the location is great.
