Canopy By Hilton Cape Town Longkloof

The rooms at Canopy Longkloof are simple but practical, and I found the bed comfortable. The duvet was very warm, more like something for winter, even with the AC on. Breakfast was included in our rate, but we had to leave before service began. We asked for drink vouchers instead of takeaway breakfast boxes, which would have suited our early departure better. The manager, who stayed in the office throughout the discussion, said substitutions weren’t possible. The boxes were bulky, and the food tasted as if it had been made the day before. We each tried one bite, drank the orange juice, and left the rest, so most of it was wasted. The front desk staff were friendly and tried to help, but even minor decisions had to go through a manager. That lack of authority made small matters unnecessarily frustrating. The hotel has potential, but management didn’t feel customer-focused, and the staff weren’t trusted to make reasonable calls. More flexibility would make the experience better.

During the first week of December, I had a wonderful stay at the Canopy. The property seems recently built, and everything felt new, clean and modern. After a long flight, it was great to find a large fitness center with proper machines, open around the clock. I liked how easy it was to get to morning hikes at Signal Hill, Lion’s Head and even Table Mountain, and I felt comfortable walking around early. There’s a club across the street and sometimes homeless people on the sidewalk, but staff were always at the entrance, which helped me feel safe. The walk to rooms at the far end of the hall can be long, though the extra space from the foyer inside the room helped make up for it. The restaurant operates independently and serves hotel guests as well as outside visitors. Getting a reservation at peak dinner time can be hard, but the food and service were impeccable. The team knew about complaints from the soft-opening period, but I felt welcomed and appreciated when I ate there. A table usually opens up after 8 p.m., so the busy prime-time hours didn’t cause me a problem. The stay felt warm and well run, with modern comforts and easy access to some of Cape Town’s most iconic views.

I spent five days here and had a wonderful stay. My room faced the courtyard, breakfast was excellent, and the gym stayed open the whole time. It was very clean and modern, and everything was well maintained. The service was outstanding. Mark helped me spontaneously as I was leaving, and kindly brought me a bottle of water from the mini market next to the hotel for the journey. I really hope to return soon. Thanks for making the stay so enjoyable.

The hotel and its rooms, building and public areas all look brand new, and it’s in a really convenient neighborhood with plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. Breakfast got boring because it was the same every day, without even small changes. The staff weren’t the best part of our stay, especially at the restaurant, where they could have been friendlier and more professional. One of the guys at the front desk was really bad when we arrived. If they improve the service, this place could be great.
