A flight delay meant I booked at the last minute, but they had everything ready to make me comfortable when I arrived. The place was clean and nice, and the owneress’s co-tenant gave me a lovely, warm welcome. I didn’t get a chance to meet the owneress since I was only there overnight and on the go, but I’d definitely recommend the place and come back to meet maryna :) It’s perfectly located for exploring muizenberg, even on foot.

Traumatic experience. I got the full R1840 refund from booking g.com, so at least I got to eat. Woohoo! Warning, Maryna tends to reply with vile atrocities. It seems to be an unfortunate pattern. She’s lost the plot. I’m only saying it because I care, Maryna, but maybe it’s time to check into Valkenberg. Your hubby Mike is a really cool, lovely guy.

Everything was terrible and dirty. The place was full of cockroaches, despite Dr Maryna Van Deventer having a PhD. The shower had no door, and the beds were in capsule units with no ventilation where you could only lie down, not stand. There were only two bathrooms for more than 25 clients, and the building had no doorbell. I’d suggest reading the reviews, since many say the same thing. There was no parking. She first told me to pull in front, then said I had to park at a neighbor’s house. After I’d paid, she demanded a breakage fee that hadn’t been in the advertisement. Who carries 1000 in their pockets for what I consider an illegal fee? I’m sure you’d never get the money back. I can’t imagine anyone writing a good review about this terrible place.

I didn’t feel safe going there, so I looked for somewhere else and would rather lose 20€ than risk being ripped off by a childish, scammy hostel owner. There were hidden costs after booking and paying, and the staff were highly unfriendly, threatening, complaining, and unprofessional.
