Carnival Court Backpackers - Hostel

Be ready for really loud noise well past midnight, since it's right in Cape Town's party area. It's a big hostel, so it feels anonymous rather than familiar. We booked late, and the guy at reception seemed bored and unhappy about it, which left us feeling unwelcome. Our room was small, with an uncomfortable bunk bed. The bathroom I used had nowhere to put your things, and mold covered the wall. Everything looked old and shabby. I'd look for somewhere else.

The vibe is great here, with friendly, fun staff, good shows and bands playing every other day. It's close to all the clubs and bars in town, feels safe, and the food service is good and affordable. This place isn't the cleanest, though, and the "temporary residents" get too comfortable. It's not the most comfortable or luxurious spot, but I'd absolutely recommend it for open-minded party people looking for a good time.

The staff made it easy to settle in, especially traveling solo. They were friendly and helpful with tours, surf conditions, and even a free pool game. It’s right on Long St, close to everything, and the WiFi was the best I’ve found in a Cape Town hostel. I’ve stayed at three here, and this is the one I’d be keen to return to. Thanks, guys!

There’s a nice lounge downstairs with live music, but the kitchen is cramped, with just two stools for all the guests. There’s outdoor seating too, though rain makes that awkward. It’s an okay place to stay.
