Head South Lodge

We had clean, spacious rooms, good breakfast, and no noise. Everyone working there was really helpful and nice. It works well for a short or long stay, and I’d recommend it to anyone.

Head South Lodge made our stay amazing. It’s well located near key attractions and lively restaurants at Waterfront, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The staff made us feel at home and helped with even the smallest details. One thing that made our trip much easier was their help arranging a rental car for our drive to Cape Point. They organized it all and had the car delivered straight to the hotel. When we got back, leaving it there was hassle-free. That service made exploring much more enjoyable and stress-free. The hotel has good facilities and Wi-Fi that worked well for me as a remote worker. We were out exploring most of the time, but it was nice to return to a peaceful place. With the hospitality and convenient location, Head South Lodge will be our go-to whenever we’re back in Cape Town. Highly recommend it for an easy, enjoyable stay.

I was in Cape Town last week for an epidemiology conference at the convention centre in September 2024, and I’m picky about hotels. The big Westins and Marriots aren’t my thing, so I look for good boutique places. I’m glad I chose Head South. It has character and feels modern and clean, and it’s barely 2 km from the convention centre. An Uber took about five minutes and cost around $3. I also walked there often, usually in about 20 minutes along Main Rd, or longer via the Promenade. I felt comfortable and safe, though other people may feel differently. There are lots of homeless people who may ask for money or food, but they weren’t threatening. The hotel itself was fantastic. There’s a security guard at the entrance 24 hours a day, and the front desk staff, including Teddy, are super friendly. My room was clean, modern, and had an ocean view. I think there are about 20 rooms, so it was quiet, and breakfast guests became familiar faces. Breakfast was perfect, with scrambled eggs, bacon, mushrooms, fruit salad, breads and toast, cheeses, avocado, hardboiled eggs, other fruit, cereals, and more, all fresh. There was also a good espresso machine with unlimited coffee, lattes, and Americanos. If I came down late, one of the women working there would offer to make fresh scrambled eggs. I can’t speak to the pool, but it was there and looked clean and ready for swimming. By the pool there’s a full bar and fridge stocked with drinks, including booze, wine, soda, water, and juice. You can make a drink and write your room number and what you took on a sheet of paper. It runs on the honor system, and the prices were very cheap, around $3 for a glass of wine. My room was in tip-top shape when I returned each day. The road out front, Main Rd, can get loud when fancy cars race by, but it never disturbed my sleep. The beach and Sea Point Promenade are a block away, and trails on Signal Hill are easy to reach straight up St. Beddes Road. I felt very safe around the hotel and walked all over the area without feeling uncomfortable. After seeing where my colleagues stayed in the CBD, I was glad I chose Head South in Green Point.
