Mojo Hotel

I had a cockroach infestation in my room. I was moved to another room and told it was an upgrade, but my rate somehow went from R252 to R1200 a night. Later I was transferred to the Mojo Hotel, which is under the same ownership, and charged R800 a night, while Motown continued billing me R1200. I also found what I believed to be spy cameras in my room. My work laptop was hacked through their Wi-Fi, something Asus and my company’s internal IT department both confirmed. I complained to the MOD, and afterward I was attacked at a nearby McDonald’s. The owner had arranged to meet me at the hotel the next day but didn’t show. I emailed them later and have never had a response. After my stay, I became aware that the owner and his wife were following and monitoring me, harassing and intimidating me. They even said they had entered my room while I was asleep and mocked me about how “pathetic” I looked. I checked out early and received no compensation. I moved to a different hotel, only to find they had checked into a room near mine and continued harassing me at all hours. Despite repeated complaints to on-site security, I had to leave early again, without compensation. Most disturbing of all, they later referred to private matters at my brother’s house, over 1000km away. I’d advise people to keep their options open. If you book here, don’t complain or dispute anything, because it may lead to months of harassment and distress.

We booked two rooms, and one was in an unsanitary state when we arrived. It smelled strongly of alcohol, the floor was sticky, and the mattress had stains that looked like mold. There were no other rooms available, and the other guests in our party ended up having to book and pay for a different hotel. The place was badly soundproofed, with a crew filming at all hours, day and night, and the rooms smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. Staff told us to ask the manager the next morning about a partial refund. Every time we returned, though, we got a different excuse and no help. The service was terrible and the room conditions unacceptable. We can’t recommend this hotel.

Loved watching the Springboks match on the big screens at The Market. The room was clean and quiet, with fresh linen, a neat bar fridge, and plenty of towels and soap. Check-in was easy and the parking felt secure. Great stay at Mojo Hotel, highly recommend it!

Mojo was our favorite hotel stay on the Cape Town trip. Great location and an even better price. We love it!
