Protea Hotel by Marriott Cape Town Tyger Valley

The staff were always ready to help, and housekeeping were friendly and happy to return later when we asked. Room service and the dinner buffets were both on point, and we loved the pool. My wife and I spent our honeymoon here. Our king room was really nice and covered all our needs. It was in the first block, away from the highway. I gave the location five stars too, even though it’s far from everything, because the hotel offers a free shuttle at certain times.

We waited an hour for dinner, and the waiter was scattered and unfocused. The service was really terrible, nothing like it used to be. We also booked a stay, and the waiter came into our room without knocking the first time. The second time, I waited outside so they wouldn’t walk into our private space.

The restaurant food was great. The rooms were comfortable, and the staff were nice, though the hotel wasn’t quite what I expected.

We stopped in for coffee and a light snack. The location is great, but the service needs a serious upgrade. Most of the staff looked tired, and our waiter was very unhelpful or perhaps just new to the job. I think the place itself needs an upgrade too.
