The neighborhood felt safe, with community security guards often around, and Purple House (the red one) was a comfortable, well-equipped place to spend our six nights in July. Henk was friendly and accommodating throughout, even after we’d left: he mailed a pair of pants I forgot to our next hotel at no charge. If I’m back in Capetown, I’ll stay here again.

106 Waterkant was a lovely, quiet house in a superb spot, with everything close by in Capetown. It was well equipped, tastefully furnished, and in very good condition. Guido welcomed us with useful tips about local restos, and Henk greeted us warmly when we registered the next day. They clearly enjoy what they do. They also arranged a private car and driver for our trip to Cape of Good Hope, which worked out very well.

We were very happy at the red-corner house at Purple House during our June 2024 stay. It felt like a home away from home. The host was kind and helpful, and took care of the special requests we had. I’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting Cape Town.

The Purple house is an easy walk from the waterfront, with several good restuarants nearby. I loved my stay and would come back. The room was clean, neat, and beautifully decorated, and breakfast was amazing. My two hosts were kind, helpful, and always available when I needed them. They really made me feel like a queen. Staying here was one of the highlights of my Cape Town visit.

I’ve stayed with Guido and Henk at Purple House on Jarvis four times, and their hospitality is always a pleasure. They’re fantastic hosts and know so much about the area. The guest house is also their home, and they’re rightly proud of it. It’s simply beautiful, and breakfast sets you up for a day of sightseeing. The location works well for Cape Town attractions, good food, and some great nightlife. Very, very highly recommended.
