Queen Victoria Hotel & Manor House by NEWMARK

Our first trip to Cape Town was memorable and enjoyable, thanks to the location, rooms, breakfast and amenities, all of which were top notch. Every staff member gave professional, friendly and natural service. We had an exceptional stay at Queen Victoria Hotel, and I highly recommend this wonderful hotel.

The staff were very nice and worked hard to help. The location and rooms were good, but the room rates felt far too high, and the laundry cost too much as well. The pool area is small and seems to serve as a bird bath for the local wildlife. To use the fitness facility, you have to go outside and ask for another set of keys.

The location was a highlight, and the staff were incredibly accommodating. They separated the twin beds in our room, I believe to help my roommate and me, and put a nightstand between them. The lamp on it wouldn’t switch off, so we had to unscrew the bulb to sleep. That’s why I scored that category lower.

On our honeymoon, my husband and I expected a special, luxurious stay at the Queen Victoria Hotel. Instead, I was shocked to find visible blood stains in two places on a bathrobe. That’s unacceptable in any hotel, especially one presented as five-star. I immediately brought it to the manager’s attention and handed her the robe. She only said, “Sorry, we will exchange it for you.” I didn’t get a sincere apology or any follow-up, and there was no reassurance that anyone would look into how it happened or prevent it happening again. We were left deeply disappointed and uncomfortable during what should have been a romantic trip. I hope management takes this seriously and reviews its quality control and service standards. This didn’t feel like the level of care a five-star hotel should provide.
