Reading House Guesthouse is my first choice whenever I’m in town. Alex and Tazz make you feel at home, offer recommendations for the area, and cook scrumptious restaurant-style food with love, while catering to your needs. The place is always sparkling clean, and the comfortable bed and hotel-style bedding feel warm and welcoming. I love its beautiful, distinctive vintage Victoria style. You’re assured impeccable service here, and I highly recommend the guesthouse.

The surroundings are beautiful, and the staff are friendly with wonderful service. My room was neat and clean and the bed was comfortable. It’s close to Newlands rugby stadion, and I’ll definitely come back.

My son found Reading House online when I had to make an unplanned trip down to Cape Town. I only wish I’d had longer to enjoy the two reading rooms, which sound like bliss to me, and the inviting balcony. There are some old-house quirks, with creaks and squeaks and the sound of water running. The bathrooms aren’t always en suite.

It felt like a home away from home. The place is very clean, the staff are friendly, and breakfast is lovely. The service was excellent, and I’d absolutely recommend this guest house.
