Saxenburg Wine Farm

The apartment had everything we needed, and the bed was comfortable. We stayed the night and enjoyed the wine tasting too. It’s a peaceful spot near shops and restaurants, though it still has a country farm feel.

Mandy was very accommodating about our parking needs, and nothing seemed like too much trouble. The lovely estate and accommodation suited us well: we needed to be in stellenbosch central each day, but wanted somewhere with more space.

We spotted some wildlife as we entered the estate, and the tasting room was rustic and really cosy. The wines, both white and red, were great, with something for every palate. The service was lovely and came with a warm smile. I’ll visit again.

We could take our time with each pairing in the intimate setting, with personal attention throughout. The biltong and cured game meats were rich and flavourful, and each was thoughtfully matched with a wine, from the elegant Private Collection Sauvignon Blanc to the robust Syrah. The wines showed passion fruit, pear, and subtle spice notes. Staff offered warm, knowledgeable guidance during our private tasting at Saxenburg Wine Estate in the Polkadraai Hills. It was a refined, boutique-style cellar-door experience, a memorable way to enjoy quality wines and authentic South African flavours.
