Silvermist Wine Estate

The drumming at Silvermist was the highlight for me. I’m originally from Africa, and this was the most welcoming and entertaining traditional singing and drumming event I’ve had the pleasure of joining. We drummed, sang and danced, and nobody seemed ready to leave when the show ended. Earlier, we’d learned about the wine and the challenges of producing it, then tasted several excellent bottles. Silvermist’s work to protect natural flora habitats is commendable, and the sacrifices involved in keeping those commitments are heartwarming. Afterwards we had a barbecue outside, with magnificent views of Cape Town, more singing and traditional xylophone music. Before leaving, we picked up fig jams and a bottle of their best organic red at the on-site shop. The red dog on each bottle remembers Rocketdog, the family’s rescue dog of 20 years who has since passed away. Such a lovely place. I can’t recommend it enough to anyone within 100 km of Cape Town. We’ll definitely be back.

We had 25 people at our team event at Silvermist, and the views made the setting feel special from the start. The team welcomed us warmly, and the Drumstruck performers brought so much energy and passion that the show was unforgettable. The wine tasting and braai were every bit as good. Watching Drumstruck perform was the icing on the cake. We’ve tasted wine in plenty of places, but Silvermist Organic Winery gave us an experience unlike those others. The location feels magical, and owner Greg made us feel like part of his family. We highly recommend a visit. The whole day was unforgettable.

A slightly unusual tasting, and at first we weren’t sure where to sit or whether they were actually doing a tasting. But we liked the wines and the relaxed atmosphere. The sommelier joined us at the table, explained each wine, then left us to chat and enjoy them. He knew his stuff, and we had a good time.
