Solstice

We stayed for an unusually long two weeks at this wonderful retreat. I'm glad we chose to base ourselves here outside Cape Town. The location is fantastic, and the staff are among the best we've ever met. They're lovely, incredibly hospitable, and make you feel at home and part of the family. It was a truly joyful experience. We'll be back.

The rooms are spacious, thoughtfully designed, and well equipped, and the food is excellent. It feels like home with a touch more luxury, in a stunning location. Service was the best we've ever had, and nothing was too much trouble.

The view is stunning, and the place itself is fantastic. The staff were very nice and friendly. Unfortunately, my husband became severely sick a few hours after we ate there, possibly from the food. I didn't get sick, as we had different dishes.

We felt at home in Kommetjie, a picturesque seaside town with a close-knit community that welcomed us. Last Word Beach sits roughly halfway between Cape Town and Cape Point, making it a great base for exploring the southern cape. The property was a treat, right on the beach, with an upstairs patio and luxurious pool deck overlooking the water. Inside, the attention to detail was impeccable and felt like living in Coastal Living magazine. The service was the best part. Everyone, from the groundskeeper to the general manager, cared about giving guests a great experience. They knew us by name, checked how they could improve our stay, shared recommendations, and were a delight to spend time with. We highly recommend eating here. Breakfast and dinner were both beautiful, with fresh, high-quality ingredients and a culinary team whose care and passion came through in the food. As frequent travelers, we've found that some five-star hotels have the luxury but fall short on service. Last Word Long Beach got both right. We can't wait to return.
