The place is old and run down, and it didn’t live up to the listing. We’d planned and paid for a family stay at The Cove expecting somewhere clean and safe, but the unit was dirty when we arrived. The kitchen wasn’t usable until I cleaned it myself so I could make dinner. When I brought it up, management first offered only to refund the cleaning fee, even though we didn’t want to spend another night there. Then we saw an unknown man outside our window, which left us feeling very unsafe as a family. After I kept pushing, I eventually got a refund for one night. I wouldn’t recommend The Cove to families looking for clean, cared-for and secure accommodation.

Nthaba Lodge has shut down, and its website is gone, though it still shows up on Tripadvisor and Google Maps. It remains in the Von Seidel family and is now called The Cove.
