The Manor House

We were surprised by how affordable the rooms were, and half expected them to be below standard. Instead, the service felt like what you’d get at a much pricier place. The restaurant is lovely, with outdoor seating overlooking the Manor house gardens. It’s peaceful there, and the food was cheaper than at a franchise restaurant while tasting much better. You can tell it was made with care. I’d go back as soon as I get the chance 😁

The venue has plenty of potential, and the staff were friendly and helped set up the tables and chairs. But the basics need attention: the bathrooms need a proper clean and fresh paint, and breakfast was so basic and unfilling that most of the men left hungry. The venue lets you bring your own catering and bar while keeping its own bar open. We paid a lot and thought the wedding would be a private event, but the venue stayed open to the public, which felt awkward. We also weren’t told about another event on Sunday morning, so we had to rush out as those guests arrived. It felt like we’d been double booked, and a separate area would help protect guests’ privacy. On Friday night, the kids were told they couldn’t swim after 18:00, and the music had to stop at 22:30 during the wedding weekend, which was disappointing. Management needs to lead the team better.

The children had a lovely time, while my husband and I enjoyed the live piano music. We were welcomed by the hostess as soon as we arrived and shown to our reserved table, which was set very elegantly. The location is in a quiet part of town, and we were looked after throughout. Lunch was average, but the atmosphere and excellent service made up for it. We’ll definitely go back.

The hosts are incredibly kind and hospitable, and the staff and owners went out of their way to help a stranger who was stranded. Wimpie and David deserve a shoutout, they were the absolute best. The place is tucked into a peaceful area, with lovely buildings and grounds. I can imagine it makes a gorgeous setting for wedding photos. Great local wine and breakfast too. I’d recommend it again and again, and wish I could give it 100 stars!
