The Verge Aparthotel

We were comfortable throughout, and the value was better than a hotel with more amenities for less money. The apartment was large and clean, with a well-equipped kitchen, full refrigerator, and washer. Staff were helpful from registration to checkout, and the location is convenient: one block from the beach, the beach street bus, and Red Bus tour lines. A good-sized market is two minutes away on the corner. Friends had a great stay here too after seeing our preview. We would highly recommend it. Can't say enough good things about the place.

The main drawback is the lack of facilities, such as a pool or gym. Also, our shower wasn't draining well, probably because it was clogged. That's an easy fix, and we mentioned it to reception, so hopefully maintenance takes care of it. Otherwise, this is a very clean, modern apartment building with affordable rates. Restaurants, cafes, grocery stores, and other everyday shops are all within walking distance. There's a reception for check-in, and they require a R1000.00 deposit, refunded after about 10 days. Booking.com and the other platforms don't mention it, but the charge is legitimate.

The room was clean and had everything we needed, including a washing machine for a longer stay. There's a supermarket around the corner and plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. It's a very nice hotel. Renovation noise from across the street was loud, and the smell of weed every day was disturbing. Those were the downsides.

I can't understand the 4+ rating after staying here. It was extremely hot and noisy, with no air conditioning, and the bedroom window wouldn't open. Our fan was broken, but they wouldn't replace it. They said there were no towels for my daughter, and I had to ask for toilet paper, which was never replenished. Very unpleasant.
