Urban Elephant Express The Flamingo

I’d avoid this place. The room information mentioned pool towels in the cupboard, but there weren’t any, and as far as I could tell, the hotel doesn’t even have a pool. We also kept smelling people smoking weed in the adjacent room, despite the strict no smoking rule; reception didn’t seem to care when I mentioned it. There were serious service and safety problems. My colleague locked her key in her room, but the staff couldn’t let her back in because the woman with the spare key hadn’t arrived yet. A fire broke out in a room on the floor below, with fire trucks called and an ambulance for someone who was badly burned. Staff didn’t check who was in or out, help guests, or apologize. Reception just carried on sitting at the desk. I couldn’t find a smoke detector in my room, unless it was hidden. The noise was awful too: construction right next door during the day, which definitely wasn’t mentioned when booking, and boy racers treating Regent Rd like their own race track at night. The housekeeping claims didn’t match what we got. Daily cleaning only came on day 5, after we asked, and there was no card to hang on the door as staff said there should be. Towels were supposedly changed every 3 days, but we got them after a week, and only after asking. So many things wrong with this place. Choose a proper hotel.
