Vetho Villa

Our balcony looked out over the mountains and beach, and the room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was very good, especially the scrambled eggs, some of the best I’ve had. This feels more like a bed and breakfast than a hotel, and the owner and staff were kind and accommodating. The location made it easy to walk to the beach, the many Camps Bay restaurants, and the red bus tour stop. I’d stay again if I return to Cape Town.

The staff were very nice, and we felt secure in the hotel. We enjoyed our stay overall, and the location is handy, just a couple of minutes on foot from Camps Bay beach, shops, and restaurants. Our room was very spacious, with a balcony overlooking Table Mountain. A few things could be better: breakfast took a while, the Wi-Fi wasn’t great, and the bathroom’s glass door wasn’t ideal. The air conditioning also struggled to keep the room cool in 30-degree heat. We’d still recommend the hotel.

Florence, our concierge, was excellent and made sure we had what we needed. The location was great too, just a seven-minute walk to the shops, beach, and restaurants.

We found the stay really disappointing and would not recommend Vetho villa to anyone visiting Camps bay. For the same money, I’d rather have stayed at 3 apostles, which I think would have been better value. There were problems throughout: the balcony was dirty, bath towels were torn, and the room’s tea station had no milk and very few options, with only decaf coffee. We also had no water one morning and had to take cold showers in winter. When I raised it with Luka, he said other guests might have used up the hot water. I wasn’t impressed, as an establishment like this should be more accommodating of customer needs. The next morning there was no electricity, and by then we’d had enough of the excuses. The advertised four-star accommodation didn’t match what we experienced. Our ocean-view room had no DStv connection, and when we asked Luka, the manager, he told us the subscription hadn’t been paid and had been cancelled. We went down for breakfast at 8:00 the next day, but Luka hadn’t started preparing it, and there was a huge hole in the kitchen ceiling. Breakfast was the same each day, with stale bread, eggs, juice, fruit, and muesli. We didn’t eat there for the rest of our stay.
