Villa Sunshine

The stained sheets, moldy walls, and dirty dishes I had to wash myself were nothing like what had been advertised. Staff at villa sunshine were rude, disrespectful, and inattentive. It was also so noisy at night that I couldn't sleep. I really don't recommend this place.

I lived at the Villa for six months. The ocean views from the rooms are stunning, and the location is excellent, but weekends often meant noisy parties hosted by Henning, the owner. Afterwards, there was a mess, and he didn't help clean it up. The common areas were also regularly dirty. The kitchen and the rest of the house clearly need investment. The utensils looked decades old, and Henning was rude and disrespectful, much like the state of the house. He even told us to clean the fridge. I did because it was disgusting, and found meat left by previous guests that had expired in 2022. I don't understand why Henning wouldn't be responsible for keeping it clean after guests. He also demanded extra cash if rooms weren't left spotless. Even after I hired a maid who did a great job, he still complained and kept the money. The washing machine and internet were out of order for long stretches, too. For what I was paying, there are better options, and I wouldn't recommend staying here.

I saw a guest and a cleaner being verbally abused. I also spoke with two guests who said their deposits were unfairly kept over claims that their rooms were unclean, even though the rooms had just been cleaned. If you're considering a stay, read the responses to negative reviews. That alone tells you this place isn't worth it.

The duty manager was so welcoming and friendly, helpful and discreet, and made me feel right at home. My room wasn't great, unfortunately, but I booked at the very last minute, on the day itself, and I'd love to return and try a different one. The location, bordering Fresnaye, Bantry Bay, and Seapoint, is beyond description. It felt like the French Riviera of South Africa.
