Vlei Lofts

The hosts were lovely, and I'd definitely consider staying here again if I visit Cape Town. My loft room was spacious, one of four, with a shared central dining and kitchen area. There's a shopping center within walking distance, and Sunset Beach is about a 10-minute drive away.

We had a lovely stay, but please lock up your belongings. I left my sunglasses at Vlei Lofts and called to ask about them. They just told me they weren't there, and nobody made an effort to help look. We were at work on the day we left. I had worn my glasses to Lofts, then we picked up our bags and headed home, leaving them on the table in the room. I don't know where they went after that, especially with other guests around. I'm only suggesting you use the safe provided and lock your room. When I called, all I was told was that the glasses weren't there.

We ended up using the place only to sleep and decided not to have breakfast. We had thought it was bed and breakfast, but found out breakfast was self-service, and I wasn't sure what that involved. On our first day, my wife briefly opened the freezer to see what was available, then closed it. Mandy sent her a very disrespectful WhatsApp message asking why she'd opened it. We later found out the freezer was off limits. The owners watched us on CCTV from their room on the bottom floor, while our rooms and the communal kitchen were upstairs. We considered booking somewhere else, but didn't want to let our emotions rush us into spending money unnecessarily. It was the most unwelcoming stay ever. Mandy's message said, “Please close the fridge, not sure why you're looking in the freezer?”

The vlei behind the property makes for a wonderful view, and the hosts were great. Breakfast was easy, even on early mornings, with bread, cereal, yoghurt, tea, coffee, fruit, and more available whenever you wanted. A fantastic B&B with excellent breakfast facilities.
