We were so well looked after by the owners, who seemed ready to do whatever they could to make the stay enjoyable. This private cottage is immaculate, light-filled, peaceful, and safe, with careful little details throughout. It sits in its own lovely patch of fynbos garden, with the mountain behind and the sea less than 600 metres away. Sunbirds, sugarbirds, goslings, Cape robins, and Francolins often visit. Public transport and the local spots in Muizenberg and nearby areas are easy to reach on foot. It’s great value, and somewhere I’d happily return to for either a short or long stay.

The host is top notch, and the garden is a peaceful little haven in the middle of Muizenberg. It’s hard to find that kind of tranquil setting here. One of the best Airbnb places I know in Muizenberg.

The cottage is warm and the bed was so comfortable that I slept easily every night, which is unusual for me. We stayed during a chilly, rainy week in August and didn’t even need the wall heater. The shower is a good size, and there are lots of thoughtful touches, from a map and local attraction guide to fresh fruit, instant and filter coffee, rusks, basic cooking supplies, and enough cookware to self-cater. Zelda even made delicious homemade Potato and Leek soup. There’s also a braai and firewood for a quiet evening under the stars. Outside, the little deck sits among a wonderful garden full of herbs and plants, with a small lemon tree. The fresh, citrusy, herby smell was lovely but gentle enough not to bother my allergies, and after rain it felt almost magical. We could easily forget we were in the city, in someone’s property. The cottage feels tucked away in a secret garden, and it’s positioned so privately that you hardly notice the other house behind it. The area felt very safe, and we walked to nearby shops, restaurants, and the beach. There’s a handy key box so you can lock away your keys when heading out, which was nice for beach trips. Zelda was a welcoming, helpful host who made us feel at home. Amberley Annex is a real gem in Muizenburg, and I’ll definitely come back.

The hosts were friendly and very helpful, and the cottage is excellent value. It’s comfortable and cosy, with everything you need, set in a lovely garden close to Muizenberg beach, the station, and restaurants.

The scenery was beautiful, and the stay felt so peaceful and tranquil. It’s close to the ocean, with great places to eat nearby. I’d really recommend it. Best stay ever.
