Rockwood Earth Lodge

We spent most of the weekend unwinding beside the magnificent rock pool, which the owner created himself with so much skill and care. Our newly renovated rock cave was cosy and felt like home, while still being a really unusual place to stay. From the moment we drove in, the lodge had an old-world, almost magical feel, with tall trees and a beautiful indigenous garden all around us. A wonderful stay.

The owners were friendly and accommodating, and the cottage is in a very safe estate. Its garden is well kept, with a stunning rock pool and the cathedral peak mountains behind it. Inside, the antique furnishings give the place a charming, frozen-in-time feel. It's a quaint self-catering cottage and spacious enough for eight people to stay comfortably.

The Berg is still the best place I've seen, even after travelling all over the world. I spent one night in the stunning house and another in the cellar, and this is the best lodge I've stayed at in the Berg. Such a perfect spot to get back in touch with the mountains and nature. Can't wait to return.

The owner was really nice and said he'd look into the noisy fridge and the leaking toilet, which also wouldn't flush properly. The accommodation itself is very romantic and nice, though it could use some maintenance. The pool had a lot of algae.
