Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve

We got married at Bushmans Kloof, and every part of it felt just right. You're made to feel welcome there at every moment. The reserve is impressive, and our guides Byron and Tiaan brought real passion to the nature drives. Chef Jean-Pierre deserves special thanks too, every dish he made was delightful and felt special. We can't wait to stay at Bushmans Kloof again.

The staff were very friendly, and our personal guide seemed to know the answer to just about any question on the region, its animals or plants. There are lots of archaeological rock paintings to see, and the region itself is interesting. The bar is small but very well stocked, with an experienced bartender, and the wine collection is great. We enjoyed the food too. Well worth the drive. One tip: don't follow Google maps to the property, it takes you nowhere. Enter Bushmans Kloof instead.

Abigail, our ranger, made a big difference to the stay. She was friendly, knew a lot, and adapted the activities to suit us as a family. We were also struck by how carefully the staff treated the reserve's animals. The antelopes felt safe enough to graze on the fresh grass near the lodge. We spent a few days here during a family trip to South Africa, and it exceeded our expectations. Though secluded in the reserve, the lodge has the comfort we wanted, including spacious rooms, comfortable beds and excellent dining. Dinner stood out: creative, delicious food that balanced local influences with French cooking techniques. We'll remember our stay fondly and would love to return.

Every penny was worth it. Over three days we had lovely accommodation and food, great staff, and activities that taught us a lot. Our guide, Zenobia, was excellent. I'd happily come back.
