The road getting there is a bit rough, and the weather didn't cooperate, it was very windy. Even so, we had a great time exploring Golden Gate and elsewhere. The area is great and the views are beautiful, though the house could use a little TLC. We'd definitely go back.

For what it costs, you could book a guest house nearby with much better amenities. Caledon country house had so much potential, but it's old and run down. Water leaks everywhere from the showers, and when it rains, it comes in through the window seals and doors. The doors are water-damaged, so they're hard to open and close, and the drainage isn't good at Caledon. There's a lot of potential here, but the owners will need to make an effort.

The refund terms are very strict. You can't cancel and get your money back unless you ask more than two weeks before the booking, and even then you only get 25% back.

The view is gorgeous. The road here has quite a bit of rough gravel, though it's not too bad. The host is amazing.
