We had a comfortable stay in the self-catering rooms and were ready to manage our own meals. Our host even left us muffins, which was a lovely surprise. They were incredibly friendly, and when an elephant knocked out the power, they had plenty of lanterns ready and a way for us to heat water for tea. The night sky was beautiful. Being just 10 minutes from Addo made it easy to get into the park as soon as it opened, when the animals tend to be most active.

The owner was very helpful, but the property needs some refinement. The pictures look great, while the surrounding area felt like a scene from a Sirian war zone. We paid more per night for a room without air conditioning or a private TV. We didn’t go there to watch TV, but sharing one with other guests didn’t feel worth R1000 a night. Breakfast also didn’t compare with the other places we stayed. We had no choice of cooked breakfast, though that was normal elsewhere and seems reasonable at these rates. I’d stay in Port Elizabeth and drive the 20 minutes to Addo instead. It’s a much better use of the money.

Clean rooms, privacy and a good breakfast made for a relaxing break from city life. It’s very close to Addo Elephant Park, and would suit a weekend or midweek getaway.

Everything we needed was there, and the place was very clean and comfortable. The host was super friendly too. It’s very close to the Addo south gate.

A pleasant self-catering place to stay, close to Addo National Park.
