Die Kleipot Guesthouse

We needed comfortable beds and completely white bedding after a very long drive, and the rooms delivered. They also had basic crockery, and the bathrooms were spacious and clean. Norma at reception was very welcoming and accommodating. There’s a lovely little Cafe a few metres down the road where we had breakfast, with a garage just a little farther along. The garden has hanging chairs and a blue pool, and there’s undercover parking. There was an earthy smell in the water in a few rooms, though.

The garden was beautiful and a peaceful place to relax, and I slept well. It felt safe and secure, but the room could’ve been cleaner: I found both dead and live spiders. The breakfast was delicious, though the staff got all three orders wrong. For what we got, it was a little expensive compared with other places we’ve stayed on and off the N1.

We had an incredible stay. The proprietors were so friendly and made us feel welcome and comfortable in every way. The breakfast spread was a lovely sight, even if my eyes were bigger than my stomach. The rooms were clean and tidy, with air conditioning and WiFi if you feel cut off from the world and want to reconnect. It’s tucked away from the beaten path on a quiet road in the mountains. Probably the best place I’ve laid my head in a long while.

The room was great and the food fantastic, but what really helped was how welcoming everyone was. We had car trouble and were arriving very late. Other guesthouses had turned us down, but the people here were willing to wait for us. We could finally recharge at the Kleipot.
