We came back to a warm, cozy room every afternoon because someone had already lit the fireplace. There was plenty of wood to keep it burning through the night, and the shower was enormous, with a beautiful big bathroom around it. Big Oak Cottages is a lovely, homely self-catering place right in town, less than a five-minute walk from the main road. The cottages have everything you need, so just bring food and wine. There’s backup water and power, DStv, a braai, microwave, bar fridge, gas stove, safe parking, and interleading rooms. Big Oak is usually fully booked, so reserve ahead. You won't regret it.

The walls are so thin that we had an uncomfortable exchange with the neighbours about how much we could hear. The linen was dirty when we arrived, and one pillow had a blood stain. The place itself is spacious, clean, and beautiful. I still enjoyed my stay, especially the fireplace and bathroom.

Precious was friendly and very helpful. The room felt spacious and was well designed, with a kitchenette that had all the essentials. The fireplace was a gem. My only suggestion is to provide something to warm the beds, like hot water bottles, and perhaps add more heating in the bathroom.

The kitchenette had everything needed for easy self-catering, and the blackout curtains were great for sleeping in. The room was clean and much larger than I expected. High ceilings gave it a lovely atmosphere, while the fireplace kept evenings cozy and warm. A perfect weekend getaway!

We couldn't hear or see anyone else during our stay, even though three of the four units were occupied. The units are spacious, with a small kitchen, braai area, huge bathrooms, fireplace, and comfy beds. They’re a block or two from the main strip, far enough away to avoid noise but close enough to walk into town and enjoy the tourist spots. Great stay.
