The walls were so thin I could hear the next guests talking loudly all night, then making very intimate noises. It was hard to sleep comfortably, and the bed was incredibly uncomfortable. I found out during the night that it was missing a leg. The unit was also exposed enough that I had to keep the curtains closed even in daytime for privacy. I left a day early because of the noise and discomfort. When I told the host, all I got was “sorry about that,” with no real effort to fix anything. The stay felt poorly managed, uncomfortable, and poor value for money. There were problems before that, too. Soon after I checked in, the town's power went out, which I understand wasn't the property's fault. But the host didn't tell guests what was happening, so I had to seek out answers myself. After travelling to Dullstroom, I tried to shower and found virtually no water pressure because the water supply is affected by the power outage. Again, I only learned why after asking. The power came back later that evening, but the accommodation itself was still extremely poor. Given how cold Dullstroom gets in winter, I was surprised there was no heater, electric blanket or meaningful heating beyond a basic duvet and thin blanket.

The atmosphere was beautiful, and the staff were warm and professional. Every part of the treatment felt thoughtful, calming and luxurious, and for the first time in ages I could properly switch my brain off. I booked the Me Time Package at Highland Rose Spa and left completely relaxed, deeply moisturised and somehow emotionally healed too 😂 If you need a reset or a self-care day, or just want to feel human again, I can't recommend it enough. I floated out of there ✨

We came for a motorcycle trip and had two nights of good rest in a decent, comfy room. The train rumbling through town was such a treat that we hurried outside when we heard it. Gravel roads and weeping willows, too. The staff took care to keep my bike safe, since bikes are apparently on the shopping list in town. The place has great facilities and a spa on site, though I could have used many more spa visits if the budget allowed. Breakfast was too big for us on Saturday, so I asked for a scaled-down version on Sunday and they happily did that. The staff are great, and we had an awesome weekend away. I recommend experiencing the hospitality and fresh air of The Highland Rose and Dullstroom.

We had the best massages and treatment at the Spa, and breakfast was divine. The rooms were nice and cosy, with professional service and a super friendly, kind owner and staff. Security is on guard 24/7, so it feels super safe. For a weekend away in Dullstroom, this is the best place. I'm very satisfied with my visit and will definitely return.

The local shops are fun to look around, and the scenery is out of this world. We had a really nice weekend getaway at The highland Rose, including full body massages with my friends. The owner is super nice, breakfast was really good, and the staff were polite and professional. I had an awesome stay.
