Ukuthula Bush Lodge

The lodge was so lovely that we hardly wanted to go out. It’s in a perfect location, and our room felt like home. Fabian and his team were the nicest hosts and made sure we enjoyed our stay. The food was amazing and stayed at the same high standard throughout. Such a beautiful experience.

Fabian and the rest of the team were so kind, and he went out of his way to handle our requests, even at short notice. We spent three fantastic nights at Ukuthula Lodge. Everything was cleaned to a high standard, and breakfast had a lovely surprise for this location: options like Eggs Benedict. The dinners got a bit repetitive. Foodies might want to rent a car to reach other places, since you can’t walk through the bush late at night.

Our bungalow felt wonderfully private and peaceful, and the lodge had a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. On arrival we were offered drinks and made to feel special, with the team happy to help with anything. The food was cooked to order in the open-plan kitchen-diner, which felt like having our own private chef. And the outdoor shower was so good we each used it three times in 18 hours! The food was beautifully presented and mostly excellent, but the evening meal was just good. I’d have been happy to pay a few rands more for fillet instead of rump. One other suggestion for the owner: extend the partition wall between the bedroom and toilet up to the ceiling for a bit more privacy.

After the six-hour drive from Jo'burg airport, arriving at such a beautiful, friendly, relaxing place was a treat. We stayed for two nights and loved it. The rooms were lovely, and the pool and lounging area were excellent. Dinner and breakfast were both very good. We went horse riding nearby and would book the bikes to explore next time. Highly recommended.
