Florida Park Hotel, Florida Road

It's clean, but really just a room, so don't expect anything else. The location is noisy, and there were some very dodgy-looking characters coming and going. Never again!

The owners and staff cared so much about my mum when she was in hospital after a medical emergency. I was staying there at the time, and they couldn't have been more helpful. They arranged Ubers, suggested restaurants, and gave me great advice about getting around Durban. When we were finally able to leave, they organised our ride to the airport and wouldn't let me pay. It may be a 3 star hotel, but the people there are 5 star. Absolutely amazing.

We had a warm welcome and a pleasant one-night stay in a perfect location, but one small thing soured it. I asked reception for coffee, milk, and fresh cups in the morning, but only the coffee arrived. The housekeeper said she hadn't been told about the milk. I offered her the used cups, but she stayed by the storage area and wouldn't take them, which seemed odd, so I put them on the floor and took the two coffee sachets. She left without saying whether she'd bring the milk or check with reception. Nearly fifteen minutes later she came back with the extra tea supplies, said nothing by way of apology, handed them over, and walked away. It was almost a perfect stay, and for what?

There was a lot of noise, and the staff didn't seem to have control over the guests. It wasn't a pleasant experience at all.
