Petra Lodge

We’d stayed here many times while travelling from abroad to visit family. It’s nearby and not badly priced, and our stays had always been great. They were short because we had connecting flights, so the location was convenient. This time I booked 4 months ahead, and we agreed on the prices, flight details, arrival, and other arrangements by email. A week before the trip, I messaged to ask who would pick us up from the airport and for the car registration. They’d replied to everything, so it all seemed fine. After travelling all day, we arrived at JHB airport, but nobody was there with our names. We walked to the office we thought was at the airport, only to find it had gone. I tried contacting them and got no answer. My family eventually reached them, and we were told our booking was for the following day and we’d have to get to the accommodation ourselves. I explained that we’d agreed on our arrival dates and flight details. Everywhere we checked was fully booked, so we had to spend 10h on an airport bench. The next day I emailed to say how disappointing it was and that a quick email could have changed a lot. They replied that we’d never confirmed our booking. I’m confused, since we’d exchanged all those details by email and had always paid on arrival. Disappointing doesn’t cover how we felt. A person named Jeanette has damaged the business’s reputation and its chance of repeat custom. We’ll never return to the establishment. What a shame.

The rooms were very neat and comfortable, with cool AC and a perfect lavatory setup and utilities. Petra Lodge also has a calm ambience, a beautiful environment, nature themed wall art and sculptures, and a modest size pool. It’s in a secure area with a formidable perimeter wall and stationed security guards. I was surprised that they gave me and my wife 2 portions of breakfast. That felt like humanity in full display, beyond hotel hospitality. Mr Etienne and Ms Teri are wonderful staff who do everything to make sure you enjoy your stay. There are free airport drops too, unbelievable value for money. I used the free wifi until I fell asleep. No exaggerating, a trial will convince you. Thanks guts 👍💞✈️🙏

The rooms were kept neat, clean, and tidy. They offered breakfast and a lift to and from the airport, and connected the client to various networks and ubers. WiFi and television were provided. The workers followed hospitality routines and rules, kept clients safe, and were very respectful, kind, and helpful. They were keen to meet clients’ needs, and always had a ready friendly smile and attitude. Teri helped and guided me with a friendly manner. I’d recommend Petra Lodge to family and friends, and I’ll return when I’m in the area. Thanks, I’ll miss you.

The pool area was the highlight for the children, who stayed entertained for hours. The whole place was beautiful and well maintained, and the murals all around were visually stunning. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.
