Hippo River Lodge

The restaurant staff were impeccable, which made the manager's attitude in front of my guests even more upsetting. I had a legitimate complaint, but the manager, whose name starts with A, spoke to me in a way that horrified them. She went on about how fantastic she and the lodge were and about overseas visitors, who she seemed to think were used to nothing. We contribute to your salary, and I don't think you deserve it. Check-in was tedious too. Not everyone got to sign the terms and conditions, and the gentleman handling it seemed distracted. We will NEVER return. Shocking and repulsive.

The venue is really pretty, and I was pleasantly surprised by how on-the-ball the staff were. They kept moving between the tables, clearing bottles and dirty glasses without letting up.

The food was marvelous, and the restaurant and its surroundings were beautiful and peaceful. Service was good, though it could still improve. I'll definitely come back.

It's a pretty place, but it looked poorly maintained. There were cockroaches everywhere, so I kept spraying Doom, which set off my allergies. The bedding had a strange smell that made me wonder how often it was changed or washed, and the shower head broke while I was using it.
