Moolmanshoek Private Game Reserve

We'd seen footage of Moolmanshoek and had always wanted to visit, thinking it was a must if we were ever in the area. Sadly, our group came away disappointed. It felt overrated, and our only regret was going in. Dominique's reception was rude, unfriendly, and came across as snobbish and biased. We had our dog with us. The surrounding area is dog-friendly, but we were asked to leave her in the vehicle while we had breakfast. As dog lovers, we didn't feel comfortable leaving her in the car, especially on a summer day. We respect places that don't allow dogs, but the attitude and the way this was handled were unwelcome. The drive in was underwhelming and took 30 minutes. Breakfast and drinks for five adults and two babies cost us over 2k. Sorry, but we won't be back. We'd suggest Dominique work on her customer relations to avoid losing guests.

We came home with warm memories of coffee and breakfast on the stoop, sundowner drinks at the barn, laughs with Dominique and Weisman after rides, and the incredible views and horses. I won't forget this place or the people, and I'd love to return one day. The cabin-style rooms were cosy and homey, and the food was delicious, with five-star dining service from Mattheus and Mavis. Dominique and Mafie made our honeymoon so special, with genuine care and standout service every day. They surprised us with things like a private picnic, wine and charcuterie overlooking the valley after a ride, and a fireplace lit in our room each night. The horseback riding was out of this world. We rode with Weisman, a masterful guide and a gem of a person. By the end of the week, he'd taken my novice-rider husband from zero to hero. Each day brought a different adventure: a challenging climb and descent, long canters across the plains beside game, a scenic stroll, or outings to waterfalls and cliffs. My husband quickly fell for Shadow, his perfect match, and still talks about him. I rode several fantastic horses before finding my match in Kadar, a lovely grey Arabian. If there's a heaven on earth, it must be here at Moolmanshoek. A few lines of praise on Google could never capture all its magic and beauty, including the people.

The food is always a highlight, and every visit feels like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It's a special place for making special memories, and one of our favourite escapes from the city. There's incredible scenery to enjoy, with short or long hikes, mountain climbs, or horseback rides among the wildlife on the plains and up in the mountains. The food at our wedding was delicious, and every meal was beautifully presented. Above all, the whole team made us feel so welcome. Mafie and Wiesman were wonderful throughout the planning, taking care of every detail with kindness and professionalism so the day ran smoothly and without stress. We celebrated our wedding at Moolmanshoek Private Game Reserve on 10 May 2025, and it was everything we'd hoped for. From the peaceful atmosphere and breathtaking views to the beautiful horses roaming freely, the setting was magical. Moolmanshoek combines natural beauty with top-class service, and we'd absolutely recommend it to couples looking for a wedding venue.
