L'ermitage - Franschhoek Chateau & Villas

We brought 40 people here for our annual sales kickoff, and it all went smoothly from the planning through the week itself. The staff were fantastic and always willing to help. Meals were plentiful, tasty, and had plenty of choice at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The two bedroom villas worked really well for our group, and the site was easy to get around on foot, with spectacular views. The rooms and facilities suited us perfectly, including the conference facilities. It was easy to reach town, and the hotel arranged transport for dinners farther away and an afternoon of team building. Thanks to everyone for making it such a successful week.

The mountain scenery here is absolutely beautiful, and Unit 58 looked out over it. I stayed in one of the newly upgraded modern two bedroom units, with all the comforts of home, including a washing machine. That was a big plus for me, since I could have fresh clothes whenever I wanted. The units are being given a fresh new look, with old fashioned and contemporary styles side by side, so you can pick what suits you. Mine was nicely decorated and very presentable. The staff were friendly and professional, and security too. Can’t wait to come back to this gem.

Christmas lunch here was a terrible experience. We booked a table, then were told there weren’t any available because the booking staff had overbooked by 40 people. We waited an hour, and many people were upset about sharing tables or being seated in the sun. The bread was disgusting and stale, and the waiters didn’t come to serve us. The service was horrible, and it took hours to get a refund. The staff and managers didn’t seem to care, and the whole thing ruined my Christmas. I’ve never had worse hospitality. I wouldn’t recommend booking lunch here. It felt like all they wanted was the money.

Had a great break with coworkers, and we were really impressed. The atmosphere was lovely, the food was great, and the views were beautiful. Breakfast was amazing too. We’ll be back.
