Mirabelle Guesthouse

Kevin kindly helped carry our bags up to our first floor room, which was much appreciated since there's no lift. The staff were pleasant and friendly, and breakfast was freshly cooked and lovely. It's a modern room in a well maintained guest house with a pool, on a quiet street. Town is a 15 minute walk away, though we'd recommend driving or taking an Uber. There's dedicated, non-gated parking just outside, and entry to the property is secured with a key.

We stayed for six days and tried all the hot breakfast options. The omelette was my favourite, nicely prepared and just the right size, and there was a continental spread too. The owners stopped by one morning for a chat, which made us feel welcome and appreciated. Everyone on staff gave great service from the moment we arrived. Mirabelle guesthouse felt like a home away from home, and we were treated like royalty. The beds were very comfortable, and we slept well every night. It was quiet, relaxing, and felt very safe. Walking to the high street took about 10 to 15 minutes and was pleasant and safe, with many world class restaurants there. We loved the double shower in our room and used it every day. The pool area was lovely for relaxing with wine, coffee, or a book. Mirabelle gets a 10/10 from me for service and comfort, and for making our holiday fabulous. We'll certainly return when we're back in Franschhoek. Our stay was simply wonderful.

We were due to stay on January 23 and cancelled on December 5 under the guest house's stated 21 day cancellation policy. They confirmed the cancellation on December 8, but didn't reply to three separate requests for a full refund. It's unclear why the refund wasn't started when they acknowledged the cancellation. We eventually did get all our money back on December 30, but it took several attempts. If you book here, make sure the refund actually comes through.

DO NOT BOOK. We cancelled our reservation almost two weeks ago, well before any part of the booking became non-refundable, so we should have received the full amount straight away. We've emailed several times asking about the refund, but more than a week after cancelling, we've had no refund and no communication. We have documentation of everything. DO NOT BOOK HERE unless you want your money stolen.
